About the shirt
:
The first Gap Store opened on Ocean Avenue, in San Francisco, on August 21, 1969; its only merchandise consisted of Levi's Jeans and LP records to attract teenage customers.
Gap, Inc. owns a trademark to its name, "Gap". The Gap's original trademark was a service mark for retail clothing store services. The patent application was filed on February 29, 1972, by The Gap Stores; registration was granted on October 10, 1972.
The first use of their trademarked logo, like the one pictured on this tee, was on August 23, 1969,and then expanded to commercial usage on October 17, 1969. By 1970, Gap opened its second store in San Jose, California. By 1973, the company had over 25locations and had expanded into the East Coast market with a store in Voorhees, New Jersey. In 1974, The Gap began to sell their own private-label merchandise.
By 1986, Gap had developed their ‘Blue Box’ logo, but during this period, they produced, over 30 odd years ago, this double-sided ‘retro’ Gap logo tee, in the mid to late 80s, with their original
tilted
‘THE’ design, for a limited time.
During this period, this US owned company produced their t-shirts in the country of Turkey.
