American Women Quarters 2022 - Wilma Mankiller (S) SILVER PROOF
The Wilma Mankiller Quarter is the third coin in the American Women Quarters Program. Wilma Mankiller was the first woman elected principal chief of the Cherokee Nation and an activist for Native American and women’s rights.
Mankiller returned to the Cherokee Nation in 1977, she founded the Community Development Department for the Cherokee Nation. She led the creation of community water systems and rehabilitation of houses during the administration of Principal Chief Ross Swimmer. In 1983, Swimmer named Mankiller his running mate in his bid for re-election. When they won, Mankiller became the first woman elected deputy chief of the Cherokee Nation. After Swimmer left office to lead the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, she became principal chief.

Brilliant Uncirculated (BU)

refers to the special coining process used to make the coin, which gives it a brilliant finish. Brilliant Uncirculated coins are manufactured using the same process as circulating coins, but with quality enhancements such as slightly higher coining force, early strikes from dies, special cleaning after stamping, and special packaging.
These tend to be the choice of many coin collectors because of their uniqueness, perfect presentation, and authenticity. These coins will come from U.S. Mint Rolls, Bags, or Sets. These will not be sent to banks.
Proof

A specially produced coin made from highly polished planchets and dies and often struck more than once to accent the design. Proof coins receive the highest quality strike possible and can be distinguished by their mirror-like background and frosted foreground.
