2022 S American Women Quarters - Anna May Wong - UNC - US Mint
The US Mint's American Women Quarters™ Program is a four-year series celebrating the achievements and contributions of outstanding women in the United States. From 2022 to 2025, the Mint will issue five new quarters each year with reverses of every famous American woman.
The new blocks will be dedicated to a diverse group of notable American women who have made significant contributions to a variety of fields, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, the humanities, science, space, and the arts. The women awarded are of ethnic, racial and geographic origin.
Anna May Wong is featured on the fifth coin released in this program.
Anna May Wong left an indelible legacy for Asian American women in the entertainment industry. Her career has spanned film, television and theater. She has appeared in over 60 films, including silent films and one of the first films made in Technicolor. She also appeared in productions on the London and New York stages. Throughout her career, she has championed the need for greater representation and more multifaceted roles for Asian American actors. Wong was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.
