    Description

2021-P Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site Quarter - Uncirculated Condition
The Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site is in Tuskegee, Alabama.  This historic site honors the achievements of the Tuskegee Airmen and preserves five structures at Morton Field
The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American pilots who flew for the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.  This included 1,000 pilots and more than 15,000 support staff of men and women of diverse backgrounds.  Their unique military record inspired reform in the Armed Forces.
The quarter’s design features a pilot at Moton Field flight training facility.  The words, “THEY FOUGHT TWO WARS” refers to fighting abroad in World War II as well as racism at home.
Reverse Design:  A Tuskegee Airman pilot with the Moton Field control tower in the background with 2 P-51 Mustangs flying overhead.
    Obverse Design:
Features the portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan, used on the quarter-dollar coin since 1932.
