    Description

10 DIFFERENT COINS FROM THE REPUBLIC OF MAURITIUS.
You will receive randomly picked Mauritian coins from the numismatic periods: Republic of Mauritius (1987 - 2019), Queen Elizabeth II (1953 - 1986), King George VI (1937 - 1952). Each bag may have different combinations of coins. You will receive Mauritian coins from 1 cent to 10 rupees.
On the Mauritian coins, there may be pictures of King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoola. There may be some other symbols: a stag (Swamp deer), sugar canes. Coat of arms meaning:
The ship in the first quarter refers to the European settlers of the island, the Portuguese, Dutch, French and English respectively.
The second quarter show three palm trees for the tropical vegetation and the three dependencies of Mauritius, the Cargados, the Agalaga islands, and Rodrigues Island.
The key symbolizes the strategic importance of the island. The fourth quarter shows the island as the star of the Indian Ocean.
The supporters are an (extinct) dodo (
    Raphus cucullatu
    s) and a sambar deer (
    Rusa unicolor
), symbolizing the extinct and present wildlife.
The two green sugar canes indicate the importance of sugar for the local economy.
The motto "Stella Clavisque Maris Indici” means "Star and Key of the Indian Ocean" and is based on the lower half of the arms.
